Accountant | Western Alliance Bank

The Tone:
This is a full-time Accountant role at Western Alliance Bank, located in CityScape, Phoenix, AZ. Western Alliance Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Alliance Bancorporation, operates nationwide and includes several legacy bank brands along with AmeriHome Mortgage. This vital position is responsible for supporting the company’s accounting and financial reporting, playing a key role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial data. The Accountant contributes significantly to financial integrity by preparing SEC and regulatory reports, performing essential accounting duties, and maintaining adherence to SOX and banking regulations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Develop comprehensive financial schedules and analysis required for SEC and regulatory reporting submissions.
• Document: Create supporting documentation for journal entries as an integral part of the month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes.
• Support: Provide necessary assistance and service to all assigned areas within the Accounting Department.
• Manage: Administer legal entity accounting functions, including the accurate application of customer payments and the appropriate recognition of revenue.
• Interact: Serve as a key liaison with management, external auditors, and regulatory agencies regarding accounting and SOX compliance requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with core domain knowledge in General Ledger Management, Public Reporting, or Financial Analysis.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of related professional experience in accounting or finance functions.
• Skills: Introductory knowledge of applicable SEC rules and regulations; intermediate understanding of GAAP and Financial Reporting principles; intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; and intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree or MBA in a related field is preferred.
