Staff Accountant – Emerging Markets | Fanatics

As a Staff Accountant for Fanatics Markets & Emerging Businesses, you will play a hands-on role in the day-to-day accounting operations supporting the company’s prediction markets platform and other new business lines. This position is essential for executing key components of the month-end close process, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, and supporting the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements across multiple legal entities. It offers a significant opportunity for an early-career accountant to build foundational skills in a complex and evolving business environment at the intersection of accounting, financial markets, and regulatory compliance, working closely with the Accounting Manager and collaborating with various internal teams.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Month-End Close: Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close process.
• Account Reconciliation: Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Regulatory Compliance: Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings for bodies like the NFA and CFTC.
• Audit Support: Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and gathering documentation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. This role is suitable for an early-career accountant, including recent graduates with relevant internship experience, and requires a working knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience. Candidates with active progress toward a CPA designation are preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial work. Proficiency in Excel is required, alongside the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a demanding environment. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach are essential.
• Bonus: Experience with ERP or accounting systems is a plus.
