The Tone:
This is a full-time role at a construction and property management company, located in northern Westchester. Our client is a growing construction and property management company that operates both office and field teams. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, managing vendor relationships, and supporting the finance team’s daily operations and month-end close. The Staff Accountant contributes directly to the operational efficiency and financial integrity of the company.

• Mission: This person is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounts payable, job costing, and general ledger entries to support a growing operation.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Outlook, Word, accounting/ERP systems (industry-specific systems a plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable: Manage vendor invoices and payments, ensuring accurate coding, timely entry, and proper authorization from operations and field leadership.
• Cost Control: Support consistent cost coding for job and service expenses, monitor and reconcile company credit card activity, and maintain organized documentation for reviews.
• Financial Reporting: Assist with weekly cash reporting, basic cash planning, and support month-end close activities and quarterly/year-end reporting preparations.
• General Ledger Support: Post accounting transactions to appropriate ledgers and maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls and company policies.
• Team Support: Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as needed to maintain accurate historical records and support the Finance team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Experience with accounting/ERP systems; proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow through, and meet deadlines with a high sense of urgency.
• Bonus: Industry-specific systems experience is a plus.
