Staff Accountant | Casino Accounting | Finley & Cook PLLC

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-office role at Finley & Cook PLLC, located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Finley & Cook PLLC is a specialized public accounting firm dedicated to serving Tribal gaming operations across the United States. This position is vital for providing crucial accounting and bookkeeping support, enabling clients to navigate complex financial landscapes and make informed strategic decisions. The Staff Accountant will contribute significantly to building long-term relationships and expanding expertise within the unique and challenging field of Casino Accounting, offering a distinct career path beyond traditional accounting specializations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide Services: Deliver comprehensive accounting and bookkeeping services specifically tailored for Tribal gaming clients.
• Support Operations: Actively support the day-to-day financial operations of client organizations, ensuring smooth processes.
• Prepare Reports: Accurately generate essential financial reports and perform necessary reconciliations to maintain data integrity.
• Analyze Data: Conduct thorough analysis of financial information to identify discrepancies, trends, and support strategic insights.
• Client Consultation: Work directly with clients to effectively resolve complex accounting issues and guide them in making sound financial decisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with extensive accounting experience that can substitute for the degree will also be considered. Fundamental knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential, along with a clear understanding of applicable accounting laws, codes, and regulations relevant to financial practices.
• Experience: Requires at least two (2) years of dedicated bookkeeping or accounting experience, which is in addition to the degree requirement.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must. The ability to proactively identify and efficiently resolve financial problems in a timely manner is critical. Excellent professional communication skills are necessary to interact with clients and clearly articulate complex financial information. Candidates must also exhibit integrity, dependability, a cooperative attitude, and be a motivated self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and responsibilities effectively.
• Bonus: Prior experience within the specialized field of casino accounting is considered a valuable asset, though it is not a prerequisite for the role.
