Staff Accountant | Martin Marietta

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Martin Marietta, located at our corporate office in Raleigh, NC. Martin Marietta is an American-based company and a leading supplier of heavy building materials such as aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt. Through a network spanning 28 states, Canada, and the Bahamas, dedicated teams provide foundational resources for communities. Additionally, Martin Marietta’s Magnesia Specialties business produces high-purity magnesia and dolomitic lime products for global environmental, industrial, agricultural, and specialty applications. This Staff Accountant position is key to providing essential accounting support for the company’s regional operations, ensuring accurate financial records, and playing a vital part in the month-end close process within a growing organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Support: Provide comprehensive accounting support for various regional operations.
• Month-End Close: Actively participate in and contribute significantly to the monthly financial close process.
• Accruals Management: Prepare and diligently maintain monthly accruals across multiple plant operations.
• Transaction Verification: Collaborate closely with plant personnel to verify and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Reporting & Analysis: Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate management reports, performing standard and ad-hoc analysis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent relevant prior experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting experience; CPA preferred.
• Skills: Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, strong organizational and time management abilities, effective verbal and written communication, excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization, and the demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hands-on capacity.
• Bonus: Manufacturing, construction, or inventory accounting experience; JD Edwards skills.
