The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte CPAs, operating from an office environment with potential for travel or alternate work schedules based on client needs. The firm provides essential accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including privately held businesses, not-for-profit organizations, governmental entities, employee benefit plans, and individuals. The Staff Accountant plays a foundational role in supporting these clients, management, and firm owners by delivering basic services within established guidelines. This position is vital for completing routine assignments accurately and contributes directly to the firm’s commitment to client service and financial integrity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit & Accounting Support: Conduct fieldwork procedures for accounting and auditing engagements, encompassing client inquiries, analytical reviews, and rigorous testing.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial statements to accurately represent clients’ financial positions and performance.
• Tax Preparation: Accurately prepare a wide array of federal and state income tax returns for corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, trust, estate, and non-profit clients.
• General Accounting: Execute fundamental accounting functions, including meticulous bookkeeping and precise reconciliations, along with other necessary governmental filings.
• Internal Projects & Client Communication: Contribute to in-house special projects and actively build communication skills when interacting with internal teams, management, and clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor of Science in Accounting or a closely related degree. Candidates must possess 150 relevant credit hours, as required for the CPA Exam, and be actively on the CPA career track with a foundational knowledge of accounting concepts.
• Experience: Demonstrated efficient knowledge of Excel is essential. Experience should reflect an ability to complete routine accounting and tax-related assignments, typically performed under supervision.
• Skills: Possess strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be organized, detail-oriented, energetic, and exhibit a strong desire to learn, along with the ability to excel in a deadline-driven environment. Integrity in handling confidential information and effective communication with client employees and management are critical.
• Bonus: A Master of Science in Taxation (MST), Master of Science in Accounting (MSA), or other industry-related graduate degree is preferred. Significant efforts towards obtaining a CPA certificate will be required outside of normal job responsibilities if necessary.
