Staff Accountant | AMSURG

The Tone:
This is an entry-level Staff Accountant role at AMSURG, primarily based remotely with regular onsite work in Nashville, TN. AMSURG is a nationally recognized leader in the strategic and operational management of over 250 ambulatory surgery centers across various medical specialties. This position is vital for maintaining the financial health of assigned centers, supporting AMSURG’s mission to deliver high-quality, patient-first care by ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.

• Mission: Owns the accounting and financial functions for assigned ambulatory surgery centers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Center Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for center personnel regarding financial matters.
• Cash Management: Oversee the inflow and outflow of cash, manage the proprietary cash management system, and facilitate funds movement.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including general ledger entries and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile all bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and accounts receivable, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Process Improvement: Identify and correct process or control issues, monitor incorrect practices, and train center personnel on best practices.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level accounting professional with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited College or University.
• Experience: Entry-level experience in accounting.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, detail-oriented, organized, high integrity including maintaining confidential information, and good judgment.
• Bonus: Public accounting or industry experience, healthcare experience, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends as approved.
