Staff Accountant – Essentials | Cain Watters & Associates
The Tone:
This is a full-time, exempt role at Cain Watters & Associates, a growing CPA firm specializing in financial planning for national clientele. This position is primarily based in a professional office setting with the flexibility for remote work based on management approval. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial first-line role in managing monthly accounting processes, contributing directly to the accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency of the firm and its clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Exercise discretion and authority in preparing accounting records and financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to department standards.
• Account Management & Documentation: Establish records of accounts, input entries into proper accounts, and document financial records using current technologies.
• Month-End Close Processes: Prepare month-end journal entries, assist in compiling financial statements, and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers.
• Independent Reconciliations: Work independently on monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including capital projects in progress and miscellaneous revenue accounts.
• Client Relationship & Reporting: Manage multiple clients, organize supporting documents, and ensure timely financial reports for clients and planning teams while meeting production goals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Mid-level professional in the accounting field. Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in the accounting field is required.
• Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to act as a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude.
• Bonus: Multi-client CPA firm experience and QuickBooks software experience.
