STAFF ACCOUNTANT | Lease Crutcher Lewis

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Lease Crutcher Lewis, located in Portland, Oregon. As a 100% employee-owned general contractor, Lease Crutcher Lewis is dedicated to constructing significant projects. The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency, directly supporting project teams and contributing to the company’s financial health and operational success. This position helps maintain financial integrity and documentation for ongoing construction projects.

• Mission: This role ensures the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, resolving issues to support robust accounting and project operations for a general contractor.
• Tech Stack: Spectrum, Procore, Microsoft Excel, integrated accounting systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable: Perform full-cycle accounts payable functions for assigned construction projects, including invoice intake, routing, approval, posting, and payment processing.
• Owner Billings: Administer owner contracts and billings by posting invoices, cash receipts, and adjustments, and supporting owner change orders and substantiations.
• Financial Support: Manage daily cash for assigned bank accounts, prepare reconciliations, and contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and annual close activities.
• Documentation & Issue Resolution: Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready accounting documentation, identifying and resolving invoice, payment, and reconciliation issues.
• Relationship Building: Build productive working relationships with project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and accounting colleagues to ensure smooth financial operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field preferred, with working knowledge of account analysis, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial documentation.
• Experience: Two to three years of experience in an office, accounting, finance, or administrative environment, preferably in the construction or related industry. Experience with networked or integrated accounting and information systems is required.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (queries, pivot tables, financial data analysis), strong analytical skills, numerical aptitude, accuracy, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Spectrum and/or Procore experience, experience working with financial statements, CMA or CPA certification, and prior construction industry experience.
