Staff Accountant | Verge.io

The Tone:

As a Staff Accountant, you will be instrumental in supporting the foundational accounting operations, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and contract administration. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the financial accuracy and compliance of the company, particularly as Verge.io’s contract and licensing structures evolve, requiring careful attention to revenue recognition under ASC 606. What You’ll Actually Do
• Core Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment runs, alongside overseeing accounts receivable processes from customer invoicing to cash application and collections.
• Contract and Revenue Management: Support contract administration by maintaining the contract repository and tracking key terms, while also assisting with ASC 606 revenue recognition, identifying performance obligations, and managing deferred revenue schedules.
• Month-End Close Support: Actively contribute to monthly close activities through preparing various journal entries, managing accruals, and performing comprehensive account and bank reconciliations.
• Financial Schedule Maintenance: Take responsibility for maintaining accurate fixed asset schedules and managing the amortization of prepaid expenses, ensuring these financial records are current and compliant.
• Compliance and Reporting Assistance: Aid in multi-state sales and use tax compliance and filings, support internal and external audit requests by preparing necessary documentation, and contribute to ad hoc financial reporting and analysis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, making this an ideal role for an early-career professional seeking to build foundational experience.
• Experience: Possess 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, coupled with a practical working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles essential for the evolving contract structures.
• Skills: Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel for various financial tasks, exhibit strong attention to detail, and possess excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Bonus: Experience gained in public accounting or within the SaaS/software industry is highly valued, along with practical experience utilizing accounting or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
