This Staff Accountant role is a pivotal entry point into public accounting, directly supporting client relationships through essential audit, bookkeeping, and tax preparation services, and provides significant opportunities to explore and find a specialized niche within the firm.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Bookkeeping Services: Provide full-charge bookkeeping services to a diverse portfolio of clients, expertly utilizing QuickBooks to maintain accurate financial records.
• Report Preparation: Prepare precise payroll, tax, and business records and reports, ensuring compliance and timely submission for various client needs.
• Tax Return Preparation: Skillfully prepare both corporate and individual tax returns, applying current tax laws and regulations to optimize client outcomes.
• Financial Analysis Support: Assist in the analysis of client financial records, diligently working to identify and address potential accounting and auditing issues as they arise.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a two-year accounting associate degree OR possess a minimum of 5 years of directly related accounting experience specifically within a CPA firm environment.
• Experience: Demonstrate the ability to work fully onsite at one of the firm’s Greater Madison Area office locations (Sun Prairie, Black Earth, or Sauk City, WI), adapting to public accounting firm operations.
• Skills: Proficiency in performing full-charge bookkeeping, preparing payroll and various business reports, drafting corporate and individual tax returns, and supporting financial record analysis.
• Bonus: Exhibit a strong willingness and aptitude to be cross-trained across the various specialized areas of tax, audit, and bookkeeping to support comprehensive client needs.
