Staff Accountant | BOSS, LLC
The Tone:
This is a Staff Accountant role for a client of BOSS, LLC, a Recruitment & Placement Firm. This position is vital for supporting the accounting, payroll, financial management, and administrative functions across multiple business operations. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining precise financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing the foundational financial data necessary for informed decision-making within the client’s organization.

• Mission: This individual will own the accurate preparation and maintenance of financial records, tracking assets, liabilities, and various financial activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Recordkeeping: Prepare and maintain comprehensive financial records to track assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax liabilities for multiple business operations.
• Statement & Ledger Management: Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements, alongside maintaining the general ledger with accuracy and diligence.
• Payroll & Account Reconciliation: Audit employee timekeeping records to prepare and process payroll, then reconcile bank accounts, cash disbursements, customer accounts, and other financial accounts monthly, while also managing accounts receivable collections.
• Accounts Payable & Tax Filing: Code invoices, establish new accounts, verify and process accounts payable invoices ensuring expenses are charged to the appropriate accounts, and prepare and file applicable tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Audit Support & Compliance: Assist outside auditors by gathering necessary account information and supporting documentation for annual audits, and continuously maintain current knowledge of accepted accounting practices and procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates are expected to possess foundational knowledge in both general financial accounting and cost accounting principles. A clear understanding of and the ability to strictly adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are essential.
• Experience: No specific number of years of experience is explicitly required. Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software is a mandatory requirement for this role.
• Skills:
• Accounting Acumen: Strong knowledge of both general financial accounting and cost accounting, coupled with a solid understanding of GAAP.
• Tax Expertise: Proven ability to accurately prepare and manage various tax reports required by federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (or comparable business software) and essential expertise in QuickBooks accounting software.
• Organizational Excellence: Exceptional organizational skills and a keen attention to detail are critical for managing multiple financial tasks and records effectively.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for clear reporting and interaction.
• Bonus: An Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent hands-on bookkeeping experience is strongly preferred for this position.
