Staff Accountant | CFS

The Tone:
This is a hybrid Staff Accountant role with CFS, located in Pittsburgh, PA. CFS is representing a client that is actively building out its team, and this position offers a direct pathway to gain comprehensive, hands-on experience across critical accounting functions. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and the vital month-end close process. This role is embedded within a supportive and collaborative accounting department, providing invaluable exposure to full-cycle accounting and financial reporting, alongside opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare financial statements: Assist diligently with the preparation of accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring compliance and clarity.
• Post journal entries: Take responsibility for the precise preparation and posting of journal entries, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
• Perform reconciliations: Conduct thorough account reconciliations and detailed balance sheet analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.
• Support closing activities: Actively support all phases of month-end and year-end closing activities, contributing to timely and complete financial reporting.
• Analyze and report: Assist with in-depth variance analysis and generate various ad hoc reports to provide valuable insights for financial decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. This position is ideally suited for an entry-level professional who demonstrates a strong, foundational understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: Bring 1–2 years of practical accounting experience to the role. This can include valuable internship experiences or prior entry-level positions within a corporate or public accounting environment.
• Skills: Exhibit strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation and analysis, and possess practical experience with common accounting software. Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills, crucial for managing financial records effectively.
