Staff Accountant | ADVENT

The Tone:

What You’ll Actually Do
Financial Reporting: Perform comprehensive monthly closing procedures, which includes the meticulous preparation of journal entries, thorough account reconciliations, and the creation of all necessary supporting schedules.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with various departments across the organization to ensure the accurate and timely recording of all accounting entries pertaining to critical areas such as cash, inventory, and fixed assets, while also maintaining their related supporting schedules.
Expense Management: Administer the entire expense reporting and recording process for both employee reimbursable expenses and company credit card expenditures, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Financial Analysis: Review monthly financial results and provide insightful analysis to support the ongoing preparation and monitoring of financial performance, including detailed variance analysis against established budgets and forecasts.
Audit Support: Provide essential assistance during the annual financial audit preparation, contributing to a smooth and efficient audit process.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or demonstrate a minimum of two years of relevant accounting or finance experience. This role requires a foundational understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: Basic knowledge and practical experience with core accounting functions are required, specifically encompassing cash management, accounts payable processes, fixed assets, the creation of journal entries, and the interpretation of financial statements.
• Skills: Exhibit advanced Excel proficiency, including the capability to create pivot tables and macros, and effectively utilize other advanced formulas and functions. Demonstrate high attention to detail, robust critical thinking, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and the capacity to work independently to assess information, derive conclusions, and present them clearly. Possess solid organizational skills, enabling effective prioritization, independent adherence to internal and external deadlines, and the consistent production of high-quality financial work products.
