Staff Accountant | Gateway Group Personnel

The Tone:
This is a Staff Accountant position at Gateway Group Personnel, recruiting for a rapidly growing and well-established organization. This role is designed to offer strong exposure to core accounting functions, foster cross-functional collaboration, and provide a significant opportunity to contribute to a growing, evolving business. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the overall accounting function, directly assisting with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and ongoing financial analysis, while also supporting operational and compliance-related accounting activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
Financial Close & Reconciliation Management: Prepare and accurately post month-end journal entries; perform comprehensive balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, including detailed analysis during the close process; and maintain and execute crucial close process controls, encompassing journal entries, reconciliations, and review checklists.
General Ledger & Asset Accounting: Monitor general ledger activity, meticulously ensuring accuracy and completeness; record and precisely track operational expenses and all asset-related transactions; and maintain detailed records for fixed assets, intangibles, and their related accounts.
Compliance & Operational Accounting Support: Provide essential assistance with state and local tax filings, licenses, and registrations; support lease accounting requirements (ASC 842) and related documentation; and assist with managing both expense reporting and purchasing card processes.
Cash Management & Team Collaboration: Support daily cash management activities, which includes performing thorough transaction research and processing payments; and actively collaborate across the entire accounting team to ensure efficient workflow and comprehensive coverage within the department.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting or Finance, providing a robust foundational understanding necessary for core accounting functions.
• Experience: Preferred candidates will have 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience, demonstrating practical application of accounting principles and processes.
• Skills: Requires strong attention to detail and accuracy in all financial reporting and transactional tasks; the ability to operate effectively and adapt quickly in a growth-oriented business environment; and demonstrated team-oriented communication skills essential for collaborative work across the accounting team.
