The Tone:
This is a part-time internship in Spring 2027 and a near full-time internship in Summer 2027, located in various Upstate New York offices. The Bonadio Group is a public accounting firm that provides comprehensive accounting and business advisory services. This role offers students an opportunity to perform meaningful accounting work, collaborate with experienced professionals, and gain firsthand exposure to public accounting. Interns will develop technical skills, build professional confidence, and contribute to real client engagements, launching their public accounting career.

The TL;DR

• Type: Part-time (Spring), Near Full-time (Summer)
• Location: In-person at one of The Bonadio Group’s Upstate New York offices (Albany, Buffalo, East Aurora (Spring Only), Rochester, Syracuse)
• Pay: $22 hourly
• Team: Collaborates with Staff Accountants, Senior Accountants, Managers, Principals, and Partners.
• Mission: To perform meaningful accounting work, gain firsthand exposure to public accounting, and contribute to real client engagements.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office applications

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Contribute to real client engagements by preparing financial documents and assisting with client service.
• Tax and Financial Preparation: Prepare individual, small business, and corporate tax returns, and assist with financial statement compilations.
• Audit and Advisory Support: Participate in audit engagements, support accounting functions, and learn about advisory services.
• Research and Analysis: Conduct tax research, analyze financial information, and review supporting documentation.
• Professional Development: Build technical skills and professional confidence through direct collaboration with experienced professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level. Active enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s in accounting program. Coursework that supports progress toward the requirements for CPA eligibility.
• Experience: No prior professional experience required; eagerness to learn is key.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, excellent organizational and analytical abilities, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
