Part-Time Sports Operations & General Operations Intern | Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort

The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort, located in Mill Spring, NC. The company operates a multi-use sports and entertainment venue, focusing on athletic events, facility operations, and guest-facing programming. This role is crucial for supporting the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of these various events, contributing directly to successful operations and a positive guest experience. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a large-scale event venue.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Event Planning & Execution: Assist with planning and executing a variety of sporting events, tournaments, camps, clinics, and special events.
• Setup & Breakdown Management: Support the physical setup and breakdown of event areas, including signage, furniture, barriers, and competition equipment.
• Operational Coordination: Help coordinate communication between event organizers, internal departments, officials, vendors, and guests.
• Facility Readiness: Support the team in walking event spaces, identifying operational needs, and ensuring areas are clean, safe, and organized for events.
• Guest Services & Monitoring: Provide assistance with registration, check-in, guest direction, information dissemination, and monitor events for issues related to safety or logistics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position for current college students, recent graduates, or individuals pursuing experience in sports management, recreation, hospitality, event management, or business.
• Experience: Relevant experience in athletics, event operations, hospitality, recreation, customer service, or facility management is preferred. Familiarity with event setup, tournament operations, or various scheduling platforms is a plus.
• Skills: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff, athletes, coaches, guests, and event partners. Dependable, professional, organized, and able to solve problems while remaining calm during busy event periods.
• Bonus: Knowledge of sports such as track and field, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, gymnastics, cheer, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, or softball.
