Instructional Assistant Mild/Mod I PT | Jordan School District

The Tone:
This is a part-time, in-person Instructional Assistant position at Jordan School District. The Jordan School District provides educational services and support to students within its community. This crucial role directly supports special education teachers, ensuring the successful implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students and helping them thrive, particularly within virtual learning environments.

What You’ll Actually Do
Instructional Support: Provide direct assistance to students with mild/moderate needs by reinforcing learning objectives and supporting individualized instruction under the guidance of special education teachers.
Management & Personal Care: Aid in the supervision and management of students, fostering a positive learning atmosphere, and offering personal support to ensure student well-being and participation.
Technological Guidance: Mentor students on the effective use of virtual learning platforms and tools, including Canvas, Zoom, and the Google Suite, to promote success in online educational settings.
Communication & Logistics: Maintain clear and consistent communication with students and parents via Zoom, phone, and email, while also supporting teachers with assessment activities and managing learning materials.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level position operating under the general supervision of special education teachers, focused on supporting students with mild/moderate needs within the Jordan School District. A foundational understanding of the principles of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and the unique needs of special education students is key.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both students and parents is required, utilizing various digital platforms such as Zoom, phone, and email. Candidates must possess practical experience in assisting students to proficiently use and navigate virtual learning tools, including Canvas, Zoom, and Google Suite, to thrive in online educational environments.
• Skills: Essential skills include strong interpersonal and communication capabilities, particularly across technological mediums. Proficiency in guiding students through virtual learning platforms and applications like Canvas, Zoom, and Google Suite is critical. The role also demands organizational skills for materials management and the ability to provide comprehensive support across instructional, management, supervision, personal, and assessment areas.
