About The Team/Role
As a Software Engineer on the WEX Benefits Technology team, you will be part of a collaborative environment where you partner closely with Product Managers and customers. Your primary goal will be to understand and address the challenges employers face in the competitive employee benefits landscape. You’ll be responsible for designing solutions that not only delight our customers but also align with our business objectives. This role emphasizes building high-quality software using the latest technologies and adhering to test-driven development practices.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand our customers’ most significant challenges.
- Measure, inspect, and drive decisions using data to ensure effective and informed development.
- Design, test, code, and instrument new solutions, taking them from concept to deployment.
- Strengthen and drive our engineering process by championing TDD (Test-Driven Development) and BDD (Behavior-Driven Development), alongside Microservice and Vertical Slice Architectures.
- Support live applications, promoting proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement to ensure system reliability.
- Analyze existing systems and processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements, fostering efficiency.
- Mentor and learn from your peers, actively fostering continuous learning within your team and the wider organization.
- Become a subject matter expert in your functional area and best practices, contributing specialized knowledge.
- Assess unique circumstances and apply creative problem-solving techniques to resolve issues or suggest various approaches.
- Independently complete work and proactively review it with others, demonstrating ownership and collaboration.
- Exhibit high self-motivation, take ownership of your work, actively seek out ways to contribute, and require minimal supervision.
Experience You’ll Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in software engineering.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Angular and/or React.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Proven track record of writing comprehensive unit tests and test suites.
- Proficiency with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience in writing performant stored procedures and functions.
- Experience in developing Cloud-Native applications and services.
- Problem Solving & Analytical: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Continuous Learning: Passionate about keeping up with modern technologies and design.
- Security: Strong understanding of software security principles and OWASP guidelines.
- Methodologies: Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Delivery: Track record of delivering complex projects on schedule.

- Languages: C#, Python (if applicable)
- Containerization: Docker
- Databases: Modern RDBMS (i.e., MS SQL, Postgres, MySQL)
- APIs: ASP.NET RESTful API design

Compensation & Benefits
The base pay range for this position is $75,200.00 – $95,300.00. Actual pay rates will vary based on your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency. This base pay is part of WEX’s comprehensive total compensation package, which includes:
