Our ideal Software Developer Interns possess talent in:
- Java and/or other areas of application development.
- A strong interest and knowledge of planning, analysis, detailed design, coding, testing, implementation, and support of components across various platforms.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Build creative technical solutions to tackle complex problems within the business.
- Assist in application development, utilizing technologies such as Java, HTML, JavaScript, Data Design, and Analytics.
- Work effectively within a diverse team of varying skillsets and experience levels, delivering solutions using various methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
- Utilize knowledge of planning, analysis, detailed design, coding, and testing to support implementation across various platforms.
- Become knowledgeable and apply Thrivent’s processes and standards for the development and deployment of software applications.
- Perform day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of software assets under the direct supervision of an employee partner/mentor.
Position Requirements
- Current Sophomore or Junior in an undergraduate degree program (December 2026 through May 2028 graduation date).
- Majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS, or MIS.
- A proven history of excellent academic performance (GPA 3.0+).
- Disciplined, with strong personal management and organization skills.
- High technical aptitude.
- Strong problem identification and analytical skills.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- A proven teammate with high technical capability.
- Open to intern full-time during normal business hours.
- Ability to work in the United States for an indefinite period without sponsorship.

Location
This is a Remote position. Candidates must reside within the United States during the entire duration of the internship.
Compensation & Benefits
The applicable hourly wage range for this full-time role is $25.00-$28.00 per hour. The actual base pay offered will be determined by various factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, knowledge, business needs, and market demand.
For roles working 20 or more hours per week, the following benefits may be offered:
