Software Analyst / Developer, Emerging Talent Intern | Metropolitan Transportation Authority

The Tone:
This is an internship at Metropolitan Transportation Authority, located in New York, NY. The MTA operates a vast public transportation network for millions of New Yorkers, requiring robust technological solutions to ensure smooth operations. This role is crucial for enhancing and supporting key enterprise applications within the Fleet Technologies Group, which directly impacts bus operations, customer communications, and depot efficiency. The intern will contribute to developing, upgrading, and maintaining systems that are vital to public transit.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, New York, NY
• Pay: $21 hourly
• Team: NYCT – Buses – Fleet Technologies Group
• Mission: Enhance and support critical enterprise applications for fleet management and operations, including Bus Time, Bus Trek, Yard Trek, and Transit Signal Priority, while also contributing to new projects.
• Tech Stack: AWS

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Design new features, reports, or analytical tools for our various applications.
• Development: Write, test, demonstrate, and deploy code for new features or bug fixes.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve bugs or edge-case issues within existing codebases.
• AWS Support: Assist in configuring and maintaining server environments, applications, or containers on Amazon Web Services.
• Data Analysis: Perform data collection, analyze trends, and provide operational insights and actionable recommendations through reports and presentations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Masters Degree student currently matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least a 2.8 GPA, majoring in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and submit an academic transcript.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; possesses strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; able to work independently while being an active team player; and skilled in working under pressure to prioritize tasks effectively.
