Software Engineer Intern (Global SRE) – 2026 Summer (BS/MS) | TikTok
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at TikTok, a leading global destination for short-form mobile video, with headquarters in Los Angeles and Singapore and offices across many major cities. The monetization technology team is responsible for building and running large-scale, globally distributed, and fault-tolerant advertising systems that are critical to the company’s revenue and user experience. As a Software Engineer Intern with Global SRE, you will contribute directly to maintaining the highest level of availability and reliability for these complex systems, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for TikTok’s global user base.

What You’ll Actually Do
• System Lifecycle Management: Engage in and improve the entire lifecycle of Ads systems, covering design consulting, launch reviews, deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Service Availability: Build and maintain the availability of globally distributed services deployed across multiple data centers.
• Operational Tooling: Deliver tools and software to enhance the reliability, scalability, and operability of services.
• Performance & Health Monitoring: Measure and monitor critical metrics including availability, latency, and overall service health.
• Incident & On-Call Response: Practice sustainable incident response and postmortems, and participate in on-call rotations across continents.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: No specific years required. Experience includes problem-solving application issues or production operations, and automating routine tasks. Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer 2026.
• Skills: Excellent programming, debugging, and optimization skills in one or more general-purpose programming languages including C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, or Go. Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and IP networking. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and a strong sense of ownership and drive are also required.
• Bonus: Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) of Ads or recommendation systems; experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
