Analytics & Modeling Summer Intern | Moody’s Corporation

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Moody’s Corporation, located in the USA. This role is crucial as it helps decode risk to unlock opportunity, requiring the intern to write code that brings together proprietary and external datasets to produce key strategy credit products, ultimately helping clients navigate uncertainty with clarity, speed, and confidence.

• Team: Default and Rating Analytics Team, working with analytics & modelling analysts and economists.
• Mission: Write code to integrate proprietary and external datasets, producing key strategy credit products and contributing to data models, pipelines, and visualizations for credit markets.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Work closely with analytics & modelling analysts and economists within the Default and Rating Analytics Team, contributing to strategic research most relevant to credit markets.
• Develop: Write code to bring together Moody’s proprietary and external datasets, applying a solid understanding of quantitative methods.
• Produce: Create key strategy credit products that provide quantitative backing to rating decisions.
• Contribute: Support and enhance applications by working on data models, optimizing data pipelines, and developing visualizations.
• Engage: Participate in a 10-week summer program offering mentorship, networking, leadership speaker series, and volunteering events, completing project work with real impact.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science, Programming, Computational Science and Engineering, or a similar field.
• Experience: Must have a graduation date between May 2028 and June 2029, with full availability to work during the program dates of June 7th to August 13th, 2027. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of computer programming fundamentals including design, implementation, compilation, and unit testing, along with a solid understanding of data engineering and data pipelines.
• Skills: Proficient in R, specifically with the tidyverse and shinny packages, and proficient in SQL. Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, Python, and Git workflow is also expected, alongside familiarity with Power BI. The role requires a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and a team-oriented approach.
• Bonus: Knowledge of finance and economics; a basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts with curiosity for learning AI tools and developing awareness of responsible AI practices.
