Shift Lead | Five Guys

The Tone:
This is an in-person leadership role at a Five Guys restaurant. Five Guys is a company built on delivering a consistent, high-quality burger and fries experience, valuing quality, teamwork, and consistency across its operations. As a Shift Lead, you are a hands-on leader critical to maintaining these standards, setting the tone for every shift, and ensuring every guest walks out impressed. • Mission: Ensures smooth restaurant operations, delivers fast and accurate service, and creates a great guest experience by leading the team and upholding brand standards during assigned shifts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Oversight: Lead and manage daily restaurant operations during your shift, stepping in to fully run the site when management is absent, ensuring efficiency and adherence to all procedures.
• Hands-On Execution: Actively participate in every station, including cashier, grill, prep, fries, and dining room, demonstrating leadership by example and ensuring all tasks are completed to standard.
• Guest Experience Management: Deliver consistently fast and accurate service, prioritizing the creation of a positive and memorable experience for every guest who visits the restaurant.
• Team Leadership & Development: Coach, support, and motivate crew members to perform at their highest potential, contributing to their growth and fostering a collaborative and high-energy team environment.
• Compliance & Administration: Uphold Five Guys’ brand standards for cleanliness and safety, and manage critical shift-related administrative tasks such as break scheduling, cash handling, and accurate closing reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Proven professional experience within restaurant, retail, or hospitality industries.
• Experience: A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in customer-facing roles within the restaurant, retail, or hospitality sectors.
• Skills: Demonstrated capability in leading by example, effective communication, decision-making in fast-paced environments, basic mathematical calculations, and proficiency in using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Bonus: Previous leadership experience in a similar setting is preferred, along with having a current food safety certification (such as ServSafe).
