Shift Lead | Five Guys

The Tone:
This is a leadership role at Five Guys, a restaurant focused on delivering high-quality food and exceptional guest experiences. Shift Leads are integral to daily operations, setting the standard for teamwork and service during every shift. This position is for individuals who are prepared to lead by example, work alongside their team, and ensure every guest leaves impressed.

The TL;DR
• Pay: $14.50 hourly
• Team: Leads crew members and reports to management.
• Mission: To ensure smooth shift operations and deliver an exceptional guest experience every time.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Leadership: Lead the shift and manage restaurant operations when management is not present.
• Hands-On Execution: Perform all restaurant positions, including cashier, grill, prep, fries, and dining room tasks.
• Guest Experience: Provide fast, accurate service to create a consistently great guest experience.
• Team Development: Coach, support, and motivate crew members to achieve their best performance and assist in training new team members.
• Restaurant Standards: Maintain cleanliness, safety, and brand standards across the restaurant and manage daily shift tasks like breaks, cash handling, and closing reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: 1–2 years of experience in a restaurant, retail, or hospitality setting.
• Experience: Proven ability to lead by doing rather than just directing, with leadership experience preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication, basic math, comfort using POS systems, and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Bonus: Food safety certification, such as ServSafe, is preferred.
