Senior Software Engineer – Platform Development | Nexus Global Innovations
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Nexus Global Innovations, located in San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – 3 days in-office). Nexus Global Innovations is a pioneering technology company dedicated to building cutting-edge platforms and intelligent tools that redefine efficiency and unlock new possibilities globally. This role is critical for an individual who will be instrumental in evolving the foundational platform that underpins all of Nexus Global Innovations’ products and services, tackling complex technical challenges and contributing to architectural strategy.

• Mission: This person will build scalable, resilient, and high-performance backend systems and infrastructure to support massive scale and real-time processing for all Nexus Global Innovations products.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Development: Design, develop, and deploy mission-critical platform services and APIs using modern backend languages within a microservices architecture.
• Architect Systems: Implement highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and observable backend systems that handle large volumes of data and traffic.
• Collaborate & Mentor: Work with product managers and cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, and mentor junior engineers.
• Ensure Reliability: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, system reliability issues, and complex production incidents, participating in on-call rotation for operational excellence.
• Shape Architecture: Contribute to the strategic evolution of the platform’s architecture, advocating for new technologies and methodologies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with a focus on building and scaling complex backend systems and distributed applications.
• Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in building and scaling complex backend systems and distributed applications, with expertise in at least one modern backend programming language such as Java/Kotlin, Go, Python, or C++.
• Skills: Deep understanding of distributed systems principles, microservices architecture, relational and NoSQL databases, extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), message queues and streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS), CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• Bonus: Experience with performance tuning and optimization of large-scale systems, familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, prior experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems, contributions to open-source projects, and experience with gRPC or Protocol Buffers.
