Senior Employee Relations Specialist – 6 Month FTC | Medtronic

The Tone:
This is a 6-month contract role at Medtronic, likely located in Galway, Ireland. • Team: Employee and Labour Relations Centre of Expertise within the Human Resources Function
• Mission: To provide expert judgment and advice on employee and labour relations, contributing to a positive work environment and minimizing risk.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Expert Advice: Influence and provide timely expert advice to managers on a wide range of issues including disciplinary actions, grievances, performance management, diversity, and bullying and harassment.
• Strategy & Policy: Contribute to the development of the HR function by designing, implementing, and developing an ER strategy aligned with business needs, including policy revision and training.
• Investigations & Processes: Conduct complex workplace investigations and disciplinary processes in a systematic, thorough, and impartial fashion to resolve issues effectively.
• Union Engagement: Serve as the main point of contact for Union engagement and industrial relations matters, ensuring a cooperative working relationship is maintained.
• Data Analysis & Projects: Analyze employee relations data, identify trends, and design proactive ER strategies using insights from the case management system to reduce ER issues.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Level 8 Degree in HR, Legal, or a related discipline, demonstrating foundational knowledge in human resources and employment law.
• Experience: 4+ years of relevant industry HR experience providing expert advice in a cross-functional organization, with an in-depth understanding of Irish employment law and HR policy.
• Skills: Strong credibility and ability to influence at a senior level, effective stakeholder management and coaching skills, and the capacity to manage high workloads strategically and operationally.
• Bonus: A Post Graduate qualification is desirable.
