About the Role: Security Risk and Compliance Intern

Cvent’s global information security organization is seeking a Security Risk and Compliance Intern to join its Information Security Risk Management and Compliance team. This role is crucial for supporting the maturation and optimization of Cvent’s information security governance, risk management, and compliance capabilities across its expanding global operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the implementation of security projects aligned with Cvent’s business needs, focusing on maturing the information security governance, risk, and compliance program (e.g., building dashboards, updating/maintaining risk registers, assisting in automation).
  • Diligently undertake and accomplish daily Risk and Compliance tasks to meet team goals within defined deadlines.
  • Work on Vendor Risk Assessments to proactively mitigate risks originating from third parties.
  • Provide support in responding to security tickets.
  • Follow up on identified risks and assist in risk reporting.
  • Support Cvent’s annual security compliance and audit calendar, including PCI DSS, SSAE 18/SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO 27001:2013 audits, as well as customer-initiated audits.
  • Assist with the maintenance of information security program documentation, including policies, standards, and guidelines, and coordinate management ratification.
  • Participate in improving the overall Security culture across Cvent by providing ideas and input for training materials to address identified risks and compliance gaps.
  • Work on collecting and delivering KPI and metrics data.

Required Qualifications:

  • Full-time college student with an anticipated graduation date of May 2027 (ideally the summer between Junior & Senior year).
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for 10 weeks and commute to Cvent’s headquarters in Tysons Corner, VA.
  • Currently pursuing a BA/BS in Cyber Security, Information Security, or other related technical fields.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills with proven experience and confidence in collaborating with internal and external partners and stakeholders to achieve positive security risk management outcomes and build productive relationships.
  • Ability to learn quickly with a willingness to take ownership of new projects and learn new technologies and methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of risk assessment methodologies and best practices.
  • Ability and willingness to produce and maintain documentation and reports, specifically developing policies, standards, risk assessment reports, and other forms of Security Risk Management Program documentation.
  • Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office, Slack, Box, and Zoom.
  • Excellent presentation and written communications skills and a team-focused attitude.
