Sales and Underwriting Consultant | Suncorp

The Tone:
This is a full-time graduate role at Suncorp, located in Auckland, New Zealand, with a start date of January 18, 2027. Suncorp is part of the Suncorp Group, home to trusted insurance brands across Australia and New Zealand, focused on delivering simpler, faster, and better outcomes for customers and partners. This position offers motivated graduates the chance to learn the insurance business from the ground up, providing practical experience in customer service, sales, and underwriting, while building a strong foundation for a career in the industry.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: 37.5 hours per week across a six-day Monday to Saturday window
• Location: In-person – Auckland, New Zealand

• Mission: Supporting customers and brokers by phone and email, providing insurance solutions and managing inquiries.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Support: Help customers with quotes, policy changes, renewals, and general enquiries.
• Service Delivery: Provide timely, professional, and empathetic service to customers and brokers.
• Problem Solving: Respond to customer and broker questions, finding the right solutions for their needs.
• Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with customers, brokers, and your wider team.
• Complaint Management: Manage customer complaints in line with the Suncorp NZ framework.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level graduate role for individuals who have recently completed, or are currently completing, at least a bachelor’s degree from an Australian or New Zealand University. Preferred fields of study include Business Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Arts, Humanities, Law, or Communication.
• Experience: No prior insurance experience is required for this role, as Suncorp provides comprehensive, fully paid training during your first four weeks. Candidates should be ready to learn and develop new skills in a professional environment.
• Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for interacting with customers, brokers, and team members. A genuine customer-focused mindset and desire to help people drive excellent service delivery. Strong attention to detail is critical for managing quotes, policies, and inquiries accurately, alongside solid digital literacy. Candidates should also possess resilience, the ability to adapt to new situations, and a growth mindset to embrace continuous learning and development. The ability to collaborate and contribute positively within a team environment is also key.
