The Tone:
This is an internship at Sharpa, located in Mountain View, CA. Sharpa is an AI robotics company that builds general-purpose robots designed to assist humans, freeing them from repetitive and strenuous work. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and functionality of these robots through hands-on support and maintenance, directly contributing to the development of adaptable robotic systems.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Mountain View, CA
• Mission: Ensure the operational reliability of robotic systems and contribute to their ongoing improvement through support and maintenance.
• Tech Stack: C++, Python, Linux/Ubuntu, Docker
What You’ll Actually Do
• Repair: Repair robotic subsystems, including actuators, sensors, and end-effectors.
• Analysis: Conduct root-cause analysis on hardware failures, such as internal short circuits or mechanical joint fatigue.
• Software: Debug and maintain robot control software within Linux/Ubuntu environments, including implementing firmware updates and managing version control.
• Documentation: Document repair logs and contribute to a knowledge base that informs future hardware design iterations.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D teams to test “fixes” in simulation before deploying them to physical units.
