Assistant Vice President, Project Manager – Risk | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

• Team: Project Promotion team, part of the IT Planning, Reporting and Administration department (IPR)
• Mission: Responsible for coordinating and delivering Risk projects, ensuring end-to-end execution aligns with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Tech Stack: PlanView (preferred), Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects related to market risk, credit risk, operational risk, and regulatory compliance.
• Financial & Resource Management: Manage the expense budget for the programme, optimizing resource allocation and collaborating with Finance and Procurement teams.
• Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement: Lead and mentor Project resources, serving as a key point of contact for senior management, risk committees, and other oversight bodies.
• Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory and internal oversight bodies, implementing risk reporting frameworks and monitoring project performance.
• Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks that may impact project success, escalating to the programme manager or portfolio lead as appropriate.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Assistant Vice President level. Core domain knowledge in banking or financial services, with an understanding of risk management functions.
• Experience: 5+ years of project management experience within the banking or financial services sector. Proven experience in budget management and stakeholder engagement.
• Skills: Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies. Experience in working with risk analytics, data governance, and risk technology solutions.
• Bonus: Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent); Knowledge of risk regulatory frameworks (e.g. Credit Risk/PFE, Stress Testing, Risk Appetite); Experience with Project Management Tools (e.g. PlanView).
