Risk Management Specialist, Operations | Edward Jones
The Tone:
This is a specialist role at Edward Jones, a privately-owned Fortune 500 financial services firm focused on improving lives through client partnerships. The company serves over 9 million clients with 20,000 financial advisors across the U.S. and Canada. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the firm’s books and records by managing mutual fund reconciliation processes and ensuring alignment with aggregate positions held across fund companies. Your contributions will directly support business decisions, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement within the firm.
The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Team: Omnibus Reconciliation team
• Mission: Ensuring accuracy and integrity of mutual fund reconciliation processes and managing team risk and third-party vendor oversight.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage product, regulatory, processing, and financial risks through oversight of business processes, external factors, and third-party vendors.
• Report on the team’s risk and third-party vendor oversight program to senior leadership.
• Apply risk and third-party vendor management practices to identify and confirm mitigation of risks within core business processes.
• Act as a consultant to team leadership on process improvements and initiatives, including those related to risk and third-party vendor management.
• Assist with Audit, Compliance, and Legal inquiries, ensuring adherence to regulations and firm/team policies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, with preferred concentrations in business, accounting, finance, or management.
• Experience: 5+ years in financial services, such as brokerage, mutual funds, insurance, or asset management, including experience evaluating and implementing controls.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting information to senior management, and the ability to make complex, non-routine, risk-based decisions with sound judgment.
• Bonus: Mutual Fund knowledge, reconciliation experience, vendor oversight experience, or a Series 7 license.
