2027 Finance and Accounting Advisory Services Consulting Internship | Plante Moran

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Plante Moran, available in regions including Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Massachusetts, operating under a hybrid “Workplace for Your Day” model. This role is integral to the Risk Accounting and Advisory Services (RAAS) team, serving clients by addressing their critical business needs and directly impacting their overall business strategies. Interns contribute to enabling and managing growth, leveraging resources, and mitigating costs and risks for clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Evaluate: Evaluate reported financial statements to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and develop standardized daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting packages, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and trend analysis.
• Develop: Develop and provide assistance with internal and external liquidity management reporting requirements for clients.
• Create: Contribute to the development of accounting and finance tools and templates designed for use on future client engagements.
• Collaborate: Collaborate effectively with other consultants and clients to generate continuous improvement recommendations.
• Implement: Provide support to consulting teams in the implementation of various GAAP standards at client sites, such as ASC606, ASC842, ASC805, and facilitating cash to GAAP conversions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level position for individuals pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a minor in accounting, or another related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated academic success is required, evidenced by a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. No prior professional experience is explicitly stated as mandatory beyond academic achievement.
• Skills: The role demands detail-oriented leadership capabilities, strong problem-solving acumen, effective communication, critical thinking skills, excellent organizational abilities, and foundational technical skills relevant to finance and accounting.
• Bonus: Preference will be given to candidates who are on track to complete the requisite degree and supporting credits to sit for the CPA exam, with the clear goal of successfully obtaining their CPA license. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is also preferred.
