Accountant I – Revenue | Esri

The Tone:
This is a full-time Accountant I – Revenue role at Esri, located in Redlands, CA. Esri is a company committed to creating positive global change with GIS technology. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial integrity of the company’s revenue accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies, and supporting the overall financial close process. You will contribute to the accuracy and reliability of revenue accounting information.

• Mission: Reconcile company revenue accounts, ensure GAAP compliance, and maintain the integrity of revenue accounting information.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPS, pivot tables), SAP (or other large ERP system)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contract Review: Perform contract reviews and collaborate with Legal, Professional Services, and order processing teams to ensure compliance with GAAP and company revenue policies.
• General Ledger Entries: Prepare and record general ledger entries by compiling and analyzing account, operational, and other financial information.
• Account Reconciliations: Conduct monthly reconciliations by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
• Close Process Support: Support the month and year-end close process and assist with the annual audit.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze and communicate periodic results to Accounting management.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with a Certificate in Accounting; working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: 1 year of experience in public accounting or a similar position; experience with general ledger functions and the month and year-end close process.
• Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPS and pivot tables; high level of attention to detail; excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize demands and meet deadlines; analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently; familiarity with accounting financial statements.
• Bonus: Experience with Revenue Accounting guidance; experience with international entities and foreign currency; experience with SAP or other large ERP system; current or actively working to obtain a CPA license.
