Job Description: Summer Internship Program – Restaurant Management & Culinary Management

Hillstone’s summer internship is a highly specialized program designed for rising seniors who possess a serious interest in pursuing a career in either restaurant management or culinary management. This immersive experience offers interns a comprehensive exposure to the business in its entirety, with a particular emphasis placed on daily operations and service excellence.

While the majority of the internship involves apprenticing various staff-level roles, interns will also have a valuable opportunity to understand and engage with critical management-level functions. These functions can include:

  • Hiring: Participating in the recruitment and selection process.
  • Training: Assisting in the development and execution of staff training programs.
  • Coaching: Learning effective techniques for guiding and developing team members.
  • Inventory Management: Understanding the principles and practices of managing restaurant inventory.
  • P&L Oversight: Gaining insight into profit and loss statements and their impact on restaurant operations.

Previous experience working in restaurants is helpful for this role, though it is not a mandatory prerequisite for consideration.

Internship Placement & Compensation

Intern placements are determined by assessing the best fit for an operating team and will be assigned to one of our restaurants located across the country. There will be a strong focus on opportunities available in East Hampton, NY, and Aspen, CO. Compensation for the internship will vary based on the assigned location, but interns can expect to average at least $1000 per week.

Placement for the internship is decided upon hire, based on the candidate’s fit with the operating team. Please note that the placement might not be exclusively in Aspen, CO, as Hillstone Restaurant Group operates 38 properties across the United States, making relocation contingent upon employment.
