Respiratory Therapist (RT) – New Graduate | Select Specialty Hospital

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Select Specialty Hospital, located in Columbus, OH (Vic Village). Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services. We serve chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery, helping them through some of the most vulnerable and painful moments of their lives. As a Respiratory Therapist (RT) at our facility, you will play a central role in delivering compassionate and excellent treatment every step of the way, contributing to a dedicated team of over 44,000 professionals committed to exceptional patient care.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Evaluation: Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans tailored to their specific needs.
• Advanced Respiratory Care: Provide advanced respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Airway Management: Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Quality Improvement: Actively promote continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department and hospital.
• Patient and Family Education: Teach and counsel patients and their families about respiratory conditions, treatments, and home care.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate of an accredited program for Respiratory Therapy; this is an early career role designed for new graduates.
• Experience: Must possess an “Active” CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or an equivalent state credential. Proof of graduation (college transcript/diploma preferred, or high school transcript/diploma/GED) is required.
• Skills: Performing patient evaluations, providing advanced respiratory care, managing endotracheal tubes, implementing quality improvement, and educating patients and families on respiratory health.
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required. Current state licensure is required, with a student or educational permit to practice acceptable based on individual state regulations. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification is required within 6 months of hire.
