Job Description: Research Scientist (Open Rank)

The Nemours Center for Healthcare Delivery Science (CHDS) is searching for a Research Scientist (open rank) to work in either Jacksonville or Orlando, Florida. The position focuses on healthcare delivery science, applying scientific methods to analyze factors impacting the delivery, safety, outcomes, cost, quality, and value of pediatric healthcare.

Specific areas of research focus include:

Health equity/disparities
Lifestyle changes (physical activity, sleep)
Digital health

The successful candidate will either contribute to an existing research program or establish a new one within these areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead a productive research program.
• Secure and maintain federal or national foundation funding.
• Foster collaborations across Nemours, leveraging resources like technological infrastructure, EMR/data warehouse, large clinical populations, and a large healthcare provider staff.
• Mentor junior researchers in grant writing.
• Collaborate effectively with Nemours’ research community, clinical services, and administration.
• Translate research findings into practice within Nemours.
• Contribute to Nemours’ educational mission through conference presentations and continuing medical education courses.
• Option to hold a faculty appointment with an academic partner (UCF College of Medicine in Orlando or Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Jacksonville). A portion of the position may be dedicated to clinical service.

Qualifications:

MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or other doctoral degree in a health-related discipline.
• Demonstrated collaborative academic productivity.
• Proven success in obtaining research funding or strong potential to do so.
