Job Description
About Dartmouth Health – Department of Radiology
Dartmouth Health’s Department of Radiology is actively seeking talented and dedicated fully Remote Teleradiologists to join our expanding practice. We welcome both generalists and subspecialists, offering both full-time and part-time opportunities. As a fully remote teleradiologist, you will enjoy the flexibility of having no on-site responsibilities, while still being a valued member of our department, contributing to the coverage of multiple Dartmouth Health facilities across New Hampshire and Vermont.
Dartmouth Radiology stands as a leading, nationally recognized radiology enterprise, encompassing all modalities and subspecialties. Our department provides comprehensive coverage for various settings, including outpatient examinations, acute care imaging, and advanced imaging at the referral center level.
Position Summary
We are seeking remote readers who can provide services from Florida, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. We offer flexible roles tailored to your expertise:
- Generalist Capability: Applicants able to read all or multiple modalities/body systems, with no procedures and no mammography required for this role.
- Subspecialist Expertise: Remote readers with focused expertise in one or a limited number of areas, depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s area(s) of focus.
The specific services offered (generalist, generalist with exclusions, or subspecialist) will be mutually determined prior to interviewing.
While Dartmouth Radiology boasts outstanding training programs, remote radiologists do not have direct educational responsibilities. However, candidates interested in occasionally lecturing or engaging with our educational mission are welcome, though participation is entirely voluntary. Similarly, remote radiologists are not routinely expected to read out radiology residents, though limited interaction is possible.
Our remote radiology team is not expected to participate in research or other scholarly activities. Nevertheless, we are supportive of candidates with targeted interests and professional development goals. Promotion in the clinical track does not require scholarly output, and there are no academic requirements built into the remote radiology role.
All remote radiologists will be assigned a home section (either with other remote readers or a subspecialty section, based on expertise/interests) and will be full members of the Department and valued W-2 employees of Dartmouth Health. A Dartmouth-owned reading station, complete with our standard PACS software suite, will be provided.
Compensation & Benefits
Remote radiologists are W-2 benefited employees, compensated via our productivity-based Radiology Compensation plan. This plan offers:
- A competitive guaranteed starting salary with opportunities for productivity incentives.
- Employer-provided retirement contributions, including a generous matching program, in addition to salary.
- Medical malpractice insurance is provided.
- A generous health insurance option specifically for remote employees.
- Market-leading, highly competitive salaries.
- Comprehensive benefits package including life insurance, disability insurance, and an affordable medical plan.
- CME funds and institutional support for continuing education, national societies, and professional development organizations.
Schedule
Given that compensation is productivity-driven, we offer a variety of flexible schedules, determined by clinical needs and mutual selection:
- Full-Time Roles: Include a substantial component of scheduled shifts assigned to defined reading lists. These roles can also incorporate a flexible component for off-hours or add-on shifts (analogous to internal moonlighting).
- Part-Time Roles: Can be a mixture of scheduled and/or flexible shifts, depending on the area of practice and need.
For full-time or near full-time roles, weekly schedules can be 4 or 5-day work weeks. Generally, a 4-day work week is sufficient to achieve a highly competitive salary, while a 5-day work week typically results in well-above-average salaries for individuals working at a standard pace.
Clinical Excellence & Department Culture
The Department prides itself on delivering high-quality, efficient, modern imaging and exceptional clinical service. Remote readers play an essential role in contributing to our core clinical mission. We value the engagement of all radiologists, including our remote team, in our robust peer learning program and all quality systems. Input on imaging and clinical services is highly valued.
We are committed to patient-centered care and fostering a highly collaborative, respectful, caring, and engaging work environment. Remote radiologists’ contributions to our positive and caring culture are greatly appreciated. We maintain strong working relationships with other departments and all referring physicians.
Our department culture is respectful, transparent, communicative, supportive, optimistic, constructive, and engaged. This incredible culture permeates throughout the department, embracing both our on-site and remote workforce. We highly value our sense of community and connection to each other.
The Department and Dartmouth Health Overview
The selected candidates will join Dartmouth Health’s team of 70 radiologists. We are an internationally-known Department with a deep history in the field, dating back to acquiring the first clinical x-ray in the United States in 1896. Since then, we have continued an upward trajectory, growing in breadth and depth and expanding our services across New England.

- Home to an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dartmouth Health operates a fleet of helicopter and ground-based medical transport services, connecting facilities and patients throughout New England.
Our network maintains a total of 802 beds, with 458 located at DHMC. We handle over 3 million outpatient visits annually, supported by a dedicated team of 15,000 employees and more than 2,300 employed providers. Our commitment to the community is reflected in significant contributions, including over $345 million in community benefits and $16 million in charity care, underscoring our role as a leading healthcare provider committed to both clinical excellence and community support.
