Registered Nurse (RN) – Acute IMC Unit | Holy Cross Health

The Tone:
This is a part-time role at Holy Cross Health, located in Silver Spring, Maryland, requiring 24 hours weekly. This Registered Nurse position is crucial within a 30-bed Acute IMC Unit, caring for high-acuity patients with complex specialties, often requiring cardiac telemetry and/or mechanical ventilator support. The role demands a passion for providing bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill population, ensuring the safe application of the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care across various health conditions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Support a patient-centered continuum of care by working with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient management.
• Advocate: Communicate deviations from patient goals, advocate on behalf of the patient, and maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer: Provide patient education, administer medications, and diligently monitor for both efficacy and potential side effects.
• Assess: Continuously assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition, along with any pertinent changes throughout their stay.
• Plan: Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Educate: Inform patients and their families throughout their hospital stay and prepare them for discharge by providing necessary education.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a basic professional nursing degree required. If a BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain it within a specific time frame.
• Experience: Current Registered Nurse licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State. BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association. At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting is highly preferred, though Holy Cross Health will consider a graduate nurse and provide training.
• Skills: Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities are essential for this role, alongside technical competency in electronic patient management systems.
• Bonus: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
