Purchasing Intern | Cupertino Electric, Inc.

The Tone:
This is an internship at Cupertino Electric, Inc., located in San Jose, CA or Urbandale, IA. Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) has built a reputation for delivering high-profile, complex electrical construction projects that alter the landscape and improve lives. This role matters as it offers a critical opportunity to learn and contribute to the Purchasing Team’s operations, gaining hands-on experience in the business side of the construction industry. As an intern, you will play a part in managing all equipment and material purchases for job sites and corporate expenditures.

• Team: Purchasing Team, reports to Manager, Purchasing
• Mission: Develop and maintain internal customer and external supplier relationships while supporting equipment and material purchases for job sites and corporate expenditures.
• Tech Stack: Purchasing and financial systems, computer applications, workflows

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Transactions: Work with Purchasing and financial systems to query and enter transactions.
• Validate Invoices: Validate invoices using computer applications and workflows.
• Reconcile Statements: Reconcile receipts with commercial bank statements.
• Support Requisitions: Work with team members to answer requisition and purchase order questions.
• Track Orders: Track material orders to delivery and obtain product submittals from vendors, ensuring accuracy and completeness of requisitions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student, with a High School Diploma or GED required, currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Experience: 0 years of experience required.
• Skills: Ability to learn and work with purchasing and financial systems, attention to detail for validating invoices and reconciling statements, clear communication with project teams, field personnel, and vendors, and problem-solving.
• Bonus: Pursuing a degree in Management, Business, Supply Chain, or a similar field.
