Property Accounting Associate | RPM Living

The Tone:
This is a hybrid full-time role at RPM Living, based out of one of their corporate or regional offices, likely in Austin, TX, four days per week. This role is essential for providing foundational accounting administrative support, ensuring accurate financial products and contributing to the overall financial integrity of a diverse portfolio of properties.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile bank accounts: Perform regular bank account reconciliations throughout the financial period to maintain an accurate daily cash balance.
• Compile financial information: Assist the Property Accounting team in compiling monthly financial information, adhering to deadlines, accounting policies, and internal controls.
• Prepare financial packages: Support the Property Accounting team in preparing financial packages tailored for multiple clients with varying reporting requirements.
• Process financial entries: Assist in reviewing appropriate reporting and recording journal entries to accurately maintain income and revenue within industry-specific software.
• Communicate effectively: Collaborate with Property Accountants and senior staff in a timely manner, providing exceptional customer service and working independently to complete tasks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED required. Foundational knowledge of accounting concepts, including debits, credits, journal entries, and the accounting equation. Understanding of bookkeeping practices, including maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts, and managing financial records.
• Experience: Knowledge of industry-specific software such as Yardi. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities. Ability to spot discrepancies and errors in financial records. Capacity for accurate data entry and management in accounting systems and spreadsheets. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: College coursework completed in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
