Project Risk Manager | Hatch

What You’ll Actually Do
• Framework Development: Develop, implement, and continuously maintain the comprehensive project risk management framework, ensuring it effectively guides all risk-related activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Risk Identification & Reporting: Plan and facilitate thorough risk assessments, detailed risk analysis, and regular risk reviews of all identified project risks. Systematically incorporate these risks into the Project Risk Register, upholding data integrity and quality, and subsequently develop clear, informative project risk reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Control Integration & Implementation: Coordinate closely with designated risk owners and the Project Controls Team to ensure that all identified risk control measures are accurately integrated into the project budget and schedule, and are implemented in a timely and effective manner.
• Culture & Capability Building: Provide essential Risk Management training to team members, contractors, and other project stakeholders, fostering a strong, proactive risk-aware culture. Guide and support the project leadership team in maintaining this culture and drive continuous improvement through the implementation of lessons learned.
• Quantitative Analysis & Safety Studies: Plan and facilitate advanced integrated Schedule and Cost Quantitative Risk Analysis, including detailed contingency analysis. Additionally, lead and facilitate critical hazard studies, such as HAZOPs and comprehensive Construction and Commissioning safety studies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a post-secondary engineering and business degree obtained from a recognized university. Candidates must also hold a professional risk management or project management designation.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience specifically in a project risk management role on mega or large-scale projects is essential. Demonstrated proficiency in workshop facilitation involving large groups of people is also a key requirement.
• Skills: Possess expert knowledge in the application of International Risk Management Standards and Industry Best Practices, including ISO 31000, AACE International, CII, and PMI. Strong understanding and practical experience with the risk management process, including the ability to adapt it to specific project needs, combined with knowledge of project management processes, execution strategies, cost estimating, project scheduling principles, tools, techniques, decision analysis, and scenario planning. The ability to manage competing priorities effectively, be resourceful, and work to tight deadlines for unplanned risk management activities is crucial.
• Bonus: Previous experience specifically within the mining sector would be considered highly advantageous.
