Hardware Project Manager | Motorola Solutions

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Motorola Solutions, located in Allen, TX (hybrid). At Motorola Solutions, we build and connect technologies to help protect people, property, and places by developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and video security solutions. This role is crucial for delivering key hardware products from the company roadmap, which directly contributes to creating safer communities, schools, hospitals, businesses, and ultimately, nations. The work involves contributing to the development of AI, video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions.

• Mission: Responsible for early scoping, planning, innovation, execution, control, and closeout of small to medium-sized hardware projects to deliver key products.
• Tech Stack: Agile PLM, Atlassian tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Planning: Create complete project schedules and planning documents, including effort estimates, resource requirements, and capital costs.
• Project Execution: Execute projects according to the approved plan and schedule, actively monitoring progress, tracking outstanding issues and risks, and providing timely status updates.
• Team Management: Actively manage and support cross-departmental project teams and technical leaders, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality deliverables.
• Production Coordination: Work with manufacturing teams to plan and coordinate prototype production for new hardware products.
• Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with 3rd party vendors and suppliers as appropriate, and maintain comprehensive project documentation over the life of the project.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience in a hardware project or program management role, with a solid understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and Product Lifecycle Management.
• Skills: Background in hardware (mechanical, electrical, firmware) design development, exceptional organizational skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills including delivering presentations to senior management.
• Bonus: Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate, proficient use of engineering change management tools such as Agile PLM, and familiarity with issue tracking and wiki-based tools (e.g., Atlassian).
