Project Accountant | Suffolk Construction

The Project Accountant plays a key role in tracking and reporting on a project’s financial performance, ensuring the financial precision and compliance essential for the successful execution of these significant construction ventures and contributing to Suffolk’s mission to redefine how America builds.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Owner Requisition Processing: You will be responsible for processing the monthly owner requisition, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and submitted efficiently to secure project funding.
• Subcontractor Financial Management: You will process all subcontractor requisitions and meticulously verify that each subcontractor adheres to the specific terms and conditions of their contract, including fulfilling insurance requirements and following established billing procedures.
• Budget and Cost Management: You will accurately process all required budget updates and execute cost transfers to ensure that project financial records consistently reflect current expenditures and allocations.
• Financial Monitoring and Disbursements: You will select invoices to be included in the weekly disbursement cycle and continuously monitor and track the overall cash position of the project to maintain financial stability.
• Risk and Administrative Support: You will assist the Corporate Risk Manager in the administration of the Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) and work closely with Project Managers and Project Executives on all facets of project accounting and related administrative issues.

• Background: This entry-level role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another relevant field of study.
• Experience: You must have between 0 and 3 years of related professional experience.
• Skills: Candidates must possess the ability to adapt effectively to different personalities and management styles within a project team. Essential skills include financial tracking, reporting, contract compliance verification, invoice processing, and budget management.
