Project Accountant | BKF Engineers

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BKF Engineers, located hybrid-remote with one day per week in the Oakland, CA office. BKF is a multi-service infrastructure consulting firm providing civil engineering, construction management, environmental, planning, and surveying services, with over 110 years of service across California and the Pacific Northwest. This role plays a vital part in the accounting team by accurately and reliably managing accounts and documentation, supporting project managers, and ensuring precise client invoicing.

• Mission: To manage project accounts and documentation with accuracy and reliability, ensuring proper client invoicing and supporting project financial oversight.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Closing Support: Support the month-end closing process and associated reconciliations.
• Client Invoicing & Review: Prepare client invoices and meticulously review draft invoices for accurate labor, expense charges, billing rates, and ceilings, making necessary adjustments and reclassifications.
• Project Financial Analysis: Assist Project Managers in reviewing project costs against budget and prepare various project financial reports including WIP aging, AR aging, and project budget vs actual.
• Client & Project System Support: Research client invoicing inquiries, provide requested support documentation, and support project managers with project setup and maintenance in Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Billing Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to project billing.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Prior experience in the Architecture or Engineering industry is preferred.
• Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication, strong mathematical aptitude, solid knowledge of Excel, attention to detail and high accuracy, and the ability to interface with project managers, clients, and architects.
• Bonus: Experience with the Deltek Vantagepoint Accounting system.
