The Tone:
This is an in-person, long-term Professional Internship Program at Shalik, Morris & Company, LLP. The company is a public accounting firm that has developed this program for qualifying students and recent graduates who are aspiring Certified Public Accountants. This role is crucial as it provides interns with exposure to a broad spectrum of professional service areas and hands-on experience using the latest software and hardware found in public accounting. Successful completion of the program uniquely prepares candidates for full-time employment in public accounting, including potential continued employment at the firm.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Bookkeeping & Compilation: Provide bookkeeping, write-up, and compilation services for small to mid-sized business clients.
• Tax Services: Prepare tax returns, conduct tax research, and perform tax planning for individuals and businesses.
• Audit & Review Support: Assist with audit and review engagements, including performing procedures, preparing financial statements, and managing engagement administration.
• Special Projects & Research: Support special projects, financial modeling, and both tax and accounting research, along with other office functions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must be pursuing or have recently graduated with a Master of Science in Accounting or Taxation, or an MBA with an emphasis in Accounting or Taxation. Alternatively, candidates may be current undergraduate students majoring in accounting or taxation, at a minimum in their second semester of junior year. All candidates must be enrolled in or be a recent graduate of an accredited accounting or taxation program designed to meet the educational requirements for CPA licensure.
• Experience: Successfully completed all required minimum accounting and business courses.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong academic performance, with either a rank in the top 20% of their degree class or holding a GPA in excess of 3.4. Candidates must also possess a clear intention and plan to pursue CPA licensure.
