The Tone:
This is a full-time role at MaintainX, a part of Autodesk Operations Solutions, focused on building a mobile-first work execution platform for industrial and frontline teams. The company aims to converge design, make, and operate into one continuous lifecycle, with MaintainX representing the critical ‘operate’ phase that informs future design. This role is vital for leading a team of product designers who make complex, high-stakes workflows simple, intuitive, and increasingly AI-powered for maintenance technicians, reliability engineers, and operations managers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design Ownership: Own design quality across your team’s product areas for web and mobile, guiding designers through ambiguity, reviewing work, and ensuring shipped products meet user needs and high standards.
• Team Leadership: Lead and grow a team of 4-6 product designers, running 1:1s, driving career development, delivering clear feedback, and building a culture where team members do their best work.
• Strategic Execution: Translate product strategy into focused design execution, helping your team understand why they are building what they are, and setting a clear, customer-rooted vision.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering leads to align on priorities, unblock delivery, and advocate for design quality and user needs in all discussions.
• Craft & AI Advancement: Raise the design craft bar by contributing to critiques, investing in the design system, and leading your team in adopting AI tools and practices to accelerate output and enhance quality.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level, with extensive product design experience (6+ years) in B2B SaaS or enterprise platforms, having shipped complex, multi-surface work.
• Experience: 1-3 years managing product designers, skilled in running 1:1s, providing impactful feedback, navigating performance conversations, and fostering career growth.
• Skills: Strong product thinking and craft judgment, ability to simplify by clarifying, consistent, direct, and accountable leadership, interest in AI-powered product experiences and leveraging AI tools in design, and expert English communication (spoken and written).
• Bonus: Experience with frontline, mobile-first, or offline-capable product design; background in industrial, operations, or maintenance-adjacent domains; experience contributing to or scaling a design system; familiarity with designing for AI-powered workflows and data-rich interfaces.
