Pre-Engineering Intern | Dentsply Sirona

This role is crucial for supporting product quality and engineering effectiveness by contributing to the digitization and reverse engineering of dental products, while also providing foundational learning in engineering processes and technologies.

• Mission: Digitize and reverse engineer dental products to support design analysis, legacy product recreation, and manufacturing investigations.
• Tech Stack: Industrial CT (X-ray) scanning systems, STL files, technical software.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Operate CT Systems: Assist with the setup and operation of industrial CT scanning systems to capture 3D data of dental products.
• Prepare Components: Prepare parts for scanning, including fixturing, positioning, and basic inspection.
• Execute Scans: Execute CT scans following established work instructions, scan recipes, and safety procedures under supervision.
• Process Data: Perform basic scan data processing and segmentation to support the creation of STL files.
• Generate Outputs: Generate and organize STL outputs used for reverse engineering, evaluation, and documentation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma or GED and enrolled to begin a university engineering program in the upcoming fall term, or currently completing the first year of an undergraduate engineering degree.
• Experience: Minimum 18 years of age with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Skills: Ability to follow detailed work instructions, basic computer skills, strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn CT scanning technology and reverse engineering fundamentals.
• Bonus: Technical coursework, vocational training, or certifications related to manufacturing, inspection, metrology, CAD, or imaging; prior experience working in a manufacturing, lab, or technical support environment.
