Job Description

About the Job: Political Campaign Intern / Political Strategy Intern

The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL) is a bipartisan coalition of national security experts and young professionals committed to restoring American credibility and effectiveness abroad through effective international assistance. We believe that American leadership is strengthened when we invest in global development and smart security.

We are currently seeking a Political Campaign Intern to support our electoral and advocacy efforts. This role is designed for individuals who want to dive into the “nuts and bolts” of political organizing and see firsthand how a mission-driven organization influences the political landscape. You will work at the intersection of policy and politics, helping to build the localized support necessary to advance our legislative goals in Washington.

Responsibilities

As a Political Campaign Intern / Political Strategy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in political fundraising and nonprofit development while supporting our donor engagement strategy. Under the guidance of our leadership team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching prospective donors and analyzing donor data from similar organizations
  • Creating donor profiles to support fundraising strategy
  • Contacting donors via phone and email to solicit contributions
  • Maintaining and updating the donor database and tracking individual giving history
  • Assisting in the drafting of donor communications and acknowledgment letters
  • Preparing weekly reports on donor outreach and campaign progress
  • Supporting event planning and day-of operations for virtual and in-person events
  • Assisting with logistical, administrative, and research-related tasks as needed

Qualifications

We’re looking for candidates who are reliable, detail-oriented, and organized, with strong written communication skills. An interest in Congress, foreign policy, or nonprofit advocacy is helpful, but no prior policy experience is required.

This is a fully remote, volunteer position with flexible hours. DMV-based interns may be asked to assist with in-person events such as Hill Days or advocacy meetings on an as-needed basis.

EVEN IF THIS APPLICATION CLOSES – WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING APPLICANTS.
