Legislative Intern | The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL)

The Tone:
This is a remote, volunteer position at The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL). A4AL is a bipartisan Political Action Committee dedicated to strengthening U.S. global leadership by advocating for strategic investments in international development. This role is crucial in supporting the PAC’s mission to fight global poverty, enhance national security, prevent pandemics, and foster American economic growth through direct engagement and advocacy efforts. Your contribution will directly impact U.S. policy and global initiatives.

The TL;DR
• Role: Volunteer
• Type: Flexible hours (Interns dedicating full-time hours will have enhanced opportunities for leadership roles)
• Location: Remote

• Mission: This intern will contribute to A4AL’s mission by directly engaging with congressional offices, assisting with outreach, developing advocacy materials, conducting legislative research, and providing field organizing support for endorsed campaigns.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engagement: Engage directly with Members of Congress and their staff in meetings.
• Outreach: Assist in the organization and execution of university and community outreach events.
• Advocacy: Develop advocacy materials, such as drafting letters to the editor.
• Research: Conduct legislative research and prepare policy memos.
• Support: Provide field organizing support for endorsed congressional campaigns.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career role. No prior policy experience is mandatory for this position.
• Skills: Demonstrated reliability and commitment to fulfilling responsibilities; meticulous attention to detail; strong organizational abilities for effective task, information, and schedule management; excellent written communication skills to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
• Bonus: A beneficial interest in Congress, foreign policy, or advocacy.
